About Us

The Vascular & Metabolic Equity Foundation Trust is a New Zealand-based health charity addressing inequity in vascular and metabolic disease outcomes.

Metabolic disease is increasingly recognised as a major driver of vascular disease. Rising rates of obesity, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and chronic inflammation are contributing to more complex patterns of arterial, venous, lymphatic, and mixed vascular disease.

Our work focuses on early identification, integrated assessment, prevention, and improved access to care for high-risk and underserved communities.

We support community-based pathways that bring together vascular assessment, metabolic risk optimisation, ultrasound where appropriate, oedema management, compression therapy, and wound prevention. Our aim is to reduce progression to chronic wounds, disability, hospitalisation, and limb-threatening disease.

At the centre of our work is a clear belief: vascular care must not be treated in isolation. Long-term outcomes depend on recognising the relationship between metabolic dysfunction, endothelial injury, microcirculatory failure, oedema, inflammation, and wound risk.
