Our Mission
Our mission is to improve access to early, evidence-based vascular and metabolic healthcare for people and communities who face barriers to specialist care. Through education, outreach, clinical resources, and integrated treatment pathways, we help people understand risk earlier, receive support sooner, and prevent serious complications such as chronic wounds, pain, infection, disability, and avoidable hospitalisation.
We are committed to strengthening care across New Zealand and the Pacific Islands by supporting communities, training health providers, and building sustainable local capability.
Our Why
Too many people live for months or years with swelling, pain, skin changes, and wounds before they receive the right support. For Maori, Pacific Island, rural, and low-income communities, these delays are even greater, leading to higher rates of complications, avoidable hospital admissions, long-term disability, and ongoing healthcare costs.
Serious vascular and metabolic complications should not be accepted as inevitable. Earlier care, better education, and timely assessment change outcomes. The Vascular and Metabolic Equity Foundation Trust was created to help close this gap.
Our Aim

We exist to help people receive the right care sooner, reduce preventable suffering, and support a fairer future for vascular and metabolic health across New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
-
Prevention must come earlier.
-
Care must be easier to access.
-
Communities must have the knowledge and resources they need before disease becomes life-changing.
At the heart of everything is a simple goal: better care, earlier intervention, and fairer health outcomes for all.
